Sergio joined IPD Latin America in 2012. His expertise as a Consultant has focused on political, social and regulatory developments within Colombia, and how they affect the country’s energy industry, including the renewables and oil and gas sectors. He has extensive regional expertise in community issues, regulatory developments and security. As a member of IPD’s renewable energy team, Sergio has focused on monitoring regulatory developments and identifying emerging opportunities. Prior to joining IPD, Sergio worked in the Bogota-based offices of Control Risks as a political and security analyst and researcher. During his three years with the company, he was responsible for providing in-depth analysis of Andean Region politics and security, as well as regional analysis in Colombia for the power, mining, infrastructure, oil, and gas industries. Sergio holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. He also holds a Master of Arts in Global Studies from the Universities of Wroclaw (Poland) and Leipzig (Germany).

Diego Mesa Puyo es Economista de la Universidad de Concordia, Canadá; con Maestría en Economía de la Universidad McGill, Canadá, y Analista Financiero Certificado del CFA Institute, Estados Unidos. Cuenta con más de 15 años de experiencia asesorando a gobiernos y empresas privadas en temas económicos y fiscales en el sector minero energético.
En la banca multilateral, Diego Mesa se ha desempeñado como economista del Fondo Monetario Internacional, donde ha liderado y participado en más de 35 misiones para asesorar a gobiernos en la formulación de políticas públicas para las industrias extractivas, entre los que se destacan México, Colombia, Trinidad y Tobago, Bolivia, Guyana, el Líbano, Albania, Kenia, Mozambique, Papúa Nueva Guinea, Uganda y Nigeria.
Como gerente y economista principal de PricewaterhouseCoopers en Canadá, asesoró al sector público y privado en la estructuración y el desarrollo de proyectos minero energéticos y de infraestructura.

Experience of more than 20 years, as general manager of successful industrial and agroindustrial companies. Opening strategic markets for Colombia like the Russian. He has shown special interest in innovation throughout his successful professional career.

  Former vice minister of infrastructure among other public offices.

  Currently president of "EGAL" company dedicated to the development of projects of non-conventional sources of renewable energy.

  He has been seriously studying the development of wind and solar energy on the Colombian Caribbean coast. He firmly believes that wind and solar energy are an excellent option to make the Colombian energy matrix more resilient. Currently, among other projects, the construction of the first solar park in Cartagena and the first independent solar park in Colombia is being completed.
